Biography
Dr. Masasuke Takata is Director of Japan Fine Ceramics Center (JFCC) from April in 2012. Before joining to JFCC, he was an assistant professor, associate professor£¬ professor, vice President of Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) from 1979 to 2013, and he is awarded as an emeritus professor of NUT in 2013. He gained his Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees in 1971, 1973 and 1976 from The University of Tokyo (UT). He worked as an assistant professor of UT (1976 to 1979) and as a Postdoctral fellowship of Renselaer Polytechnique Institute, USA (1979 to 1981).
Takata has consistently investigated electronic ceramic materials, especially hydrogen sensor which is an indispensable component in approaching hydrogen energy age. He is an active member of an evaluation committee of the sensor section of a Japanese national project. Moreover, he was the leader of a national project team investigating the new heat insulator in the energy conservation research (2006-2011). He has published more than 300 technical papers and more than 10 books. He received awards including Progressive Award of The Ceramic Society of Japan (1982), the Richard M. Fulrath Award (1992), Prize for Scientific Contribution of The Ceramic Society of Japan (1995), Member of Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials (1997), Fellow of the American Ceramic Society (2012) and Academician of World Academy of Ceramics (2014).
Takata was Delegate of Japan, ISO/TC206 (Fine Ceramics) WG4 (Classification) (1994-2001). He was Head of Event Planning Committee (2001-2002), Head of Electronics Division (2007-2008) and Vice president (2012-2014) of the Ceramic Society of Japan. He was President of The Development Engineering Society of Japan (2007-2011).
